I’ve just read on the BBC website that the Numeracy and Literacy strategies are to be abandoned. This is big news indeed for educators. I hope that this will clear the way for schools and teachers to tackle the issues surrounding raising standards in more creative and localised ways.

I ran the text from our newsletter through wordle. It’s fantastic – and quite beautiful! I must show this to our literacy coordinator! I can see lots of applications in the classroom…
*EDIT* I just ran our recent OFSTED Report through Wordle – it’s so interesting!
A good introduction to web 2.0.
Just saw this on Judy Jake’s blog. Inspiring!
Animation

My first faltering attempt at an animation. Produced within an hour with a group of GLD students. Done in partnership with Una Bryce – our art coordinator. Una is now really enthusiastic to use animation across our secondary GLD and ASD secondary cohort. Definitely proof of concept. Now we just need 4 more macs with istopmotion installed to get it properly embedded in the curriculum!
I saw this on Sue’s blog. A good introduction to blogging!
Many SEN learners would have problems accessing a blog. However - I believe that there may be some possible benefits in the following areas: 1. We have an international partnership with a school in Ghana. I think that some kind of class-led blog might be a very effective way of building relationships between our learners. Many classes already have diary time in class – and this could easily be transferred to a blog. 2. There might be some good possiblities for organising staff blogs. As well as being a good opportunity for disseminating information and discussion – it would also allow staff to become familiar with there use.
